Borderlands 3: Siren Song

[Part of the Wasted Land story]

After some quick study, Tannis is fully sirened up and destroys the defenses to the Calypso's Cathedral and main base, letting the united Crimson Raiders attack the compound where Ava slays Troy, avenging Maya and absorbing his energy which activates her latent siren gene. Tannis takes her as her apprentice.

Unfortunately Troy had already begun unlocking "the Great Vault" having discovered that the moon was actually the key. Within was meant to be a universe destroying creature that his sister Tyreen wanted to absorb to cement her godhood - she was just running an errand on an Eridian homeworld to kill her father while waiting.

With that out of the way Tyreen warps back to Pandora only to find Lilith and Moze already waiting for her and is wiped out easily by the Mechwarrior. Alas the moon is now too close to Pandora and there's no stopping it anymore except through self sacrifice. Taking her siren powers back from Tyreen's corpse, Lilith becomes the Firehawk once more and uses her gift to fly up and then self detonate on the moon, pushing it away - resealing the Great Vault and saving Pandora.

Will we ever see her again? Probably because there's that Borderlands movie coming out.

Borderlands 3: Tannis Power

[Part of the Wasted Land story]

Clay is very capable for the task at hand: starting a revolt against the COV, slaying their witch who makes midgets regular size, and finding a hidden key piece aboard a crashed spaceship out in the dinosaur infested wilds which thanks to some crazy and now deceased scientists, is also home to smart, gun toting giant monkeys and lazertech fused dinos. After he manages to ice the local Calypso leadership, he finds the remaining key components and hands them all over to the Crimson Raiders as to give Eden-6 a chance at no longer being involved with this conflict.

Dr. Tannis and Moze open up the vault and after the mech warrior defeats the giant within (those holes in the floor are super handy for when it tilts the platform), Tannis does some sciencey stuff to make it that Tyreen can no longer absorb its power, like she did with the previous vault monster. Annoyed at this, the twins kidnap Tannis instead and back on Pandora, Vaughn sees an ad over the echoNET that Dr. Tannis is going to be sacrificed at Carnivora, so he hijacks an appropriate golden ride to gain entry to the carnival which apparently is on a giant motorized vehicle itself!

That's one way to make a mobile circus!

After disabling and boarding it, he fights through swarms of COV before freeing Tannis who reveals that she too is a siren now and probably didn't need rescuing. What she does need is her research materials at her secret lab in a shuttered mine so Vaughn heads on over, makes his way past the varkid colony that's taken up residence, defeats a demon, and collects the material the good doctor requires: mainly stuff involving Handsome Jack's daughter Angel.

Borderlands 3: The Sword and the Gunslinger

[Part of the Wasted Land story]

The next key pieces are on the planet Promethea, home of the Atlas corporation, but it too is under attack by both Maliwan and COV who are in clear alliance. Fortunately, Lilith knows of allies here as well, the first being Mad Moxxi who distracts most of the COV by participating and winning the galaxy wide broadcast of "Who wants to bang a bazillionaire" in nearby Lectra City, basically an all female city wide death match with the winner being able to bang the host in front of a large audience, both broadcast and live (with much audience participation to boot).

Lilith's second ally in the area is the space ninja (warframe?) Zer0 who makes use of the Sanctuary III to assault the Maliwan orbiting death star to end the war and earn the remaining key parts that Dr. Tannis needs to finish the key.  Maya volunteers herself to open said vault where she defeats the impressive guardian monster within only to then encounter the Calypso twins. While Tyreen absorbs the power of the defeated monster, Troy absorbs and disintegrates Maya herself.

While they replay her snuff film on a loop, Dr. Tannis discovers that this vault seems to be linked to another on Eden-6, the swampy home world of the Jakobs family who are also in conflict with the COV. They hire a trusty gunslinger squire named Clay - the lone merc who didn't simply take Calypso money and leave like a whore.

Borderlands 3: Number Vaughn

[Part of the Wasted Land story]

Vaughn officially joins the Crimson Raiders when their leader, Lilith the Firehawk, comes to unintentionally rescue him. She had been looking for the leader of the Sunsmasher gang, which he was until they turned on him to join the rapidly expanding Children of the Vault (shortened to COV) Cult with a vault map piece (what Lilith was actually after) as their joining fee.

Pants get in the way of fighting!

For his first mission, he quickly heads to the local COV broadcast center where they retrieve the map fragment from the COV Mouthpiece, who broadcasts messages from their "gods" the Calypso twins in a pretty cool boss fight that involves dodging soundwaves from giant speakers. Oh yeah, the new Crimson recruit Moze the Mechwarrior helps out, but Vaughn and his perfectly sculpted abs do most of the heavy lifting.

Upon returning to Lilith they find her stripped of her powers and dignity by the Calypso twins themselves (who happen to be sirens like Lilith) and a large group of their COV followers. Once the god twins have enough demeaning footage to publicly share over the ECHOnet and depart, Vaughn distracts the COV and lures them away while Moze saves their plaything and returns to their hidden base nearby: the Sanctuary III the space ship!

Sojourn at Entropia: Accidental Disciple

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Having become Sara's "accidental" disciple, we head back to Port Atlantis for some basics. I also learn I am her sixth student so far.

Her custom mentor page shows what skills she teaches.

Combat is our main focus as she wants to get me "battle ready", though should I be scared that none of her disciples have graduated? :P She teaches me how to trade the metric ton of BLP ammo I've been collecting, but have no weapon for, into Energy Cells. I can almost perpetually recover your ammo usage she says.

Her method of fighting reduces all the "action" into a highly efficient three key stroke press. "Next Target", "Auto use tool" (ie. fire gun indefinitely), "Loot"

A target that you've locked on and killed but keep shooting at doesn't eat up any more ammo. Also, with this I can't really misfire and hit something I wasn't aiming for.

We're soon out in the field where I'm practicing this new way to fight and learn a few more things.

1) I still have to make sure to ID the targets before opening fire
2) I must not walk backwards from an enemy. Ever.

This reduces the chance of accidental multi-aggro and more importantly develops Dodge and Evade skills.

Since training is going to be a grind, I'm going to stop the journal here for the time being. Thank you for reading and I hope this series has shed some light on the Entropia Universe for you! :)

Sojourn at Entropia: The Outback

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Being low on ammo I decide to do another messenger quest with my Sleipnir. Not sure what this Deer building of New Oxford is, I'll have to check it out on a return visit.

This huge land mass out in the styx is mostly PvP land so I suspect it's used to store criminals. Amethera Outback = Australia? :P

Reach the destination running on fumes (again). Not sure how I'm going to afford future fuel.

Due to fidling with my friends list during the flight though I accidentally requested mentorship from Sara Serenity. She laughs at my mistake but is willing to actually mentor me anyway. I think, why not?

In typical fashion, she shows up in style. Because, a bright gold car that stands out is exactly what you want to drive in PvP land. :P

Sojourn at Entropia: Rifleman

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Seems sci-fi goblins exist here too.

My old rifle finally broke mid combat but fortunately I had bought another one for 4 PED. While the new one does more damage it also eats more cells per shot. >.<

They were certainly out in force though, so I decided it was time to get out of there. Especially since my rifleman skills are lacking! (lol, queue Running with Rifles theme)

I went back to Camp Icarus for rifle training.

Like in most MMOs, getting multi-aggroed is bad!

The end result is I can properly use that rifle Caligula gave me now! My previous skill level made it pretty much a pea shooter. This means I have two usable rifles, and around one hundred bullets to share between them. Great. :/

Sojourn at Entropia: No Sweat

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Anna next radioed in for me to find a missing colleague of hers.

While searching I stumbled upon Boreas Outpost, a popular "sweat camp".

Players collect monster sweat then sell it for PED.

Also found hints of a shadier side to the game, if this ad is any indication.

Eventually found Anna's colleague. She wasn't going to like the news.

Sojourn at Entropia: A Test of Piloting

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Decided to look around at Fort Argus briefly.

Not sure how many other MMOs have player run banks that do that!

Also learned that you can earn PED, ISK (Eve Online), and Linden (Second Life) just by registering and listening to a radio station? You gain .01 PED and 10 RP (radio points) every 10-17 minutes, with 100 RP being converted into more PED once a month when they pay it out. The only rules are that you click something every hour to prove you are still there and that you do not mute the channel.

From my experience there are lots of advertisements here too, repetitive ones and you get maybe two  after each song. Possibly the same one twice. The music itself is trance/dance techno which can get irritating after awhile. Especially since the station only seemed to play stuff from Bassnectar, The Prodigy and Benni Bennasi. So not a lot of variation there.

Anyway since most of my tasks were at Fort Troy I did decide to teleport back there and buy fuel on the market. 100 cans for 4 PED.

At least my VTOL is useable again!

Anna, camped a bit outside Fort Troy has a few tasks for me to do, in and around the robot infested volcano.

Fortunately they are pretty straight forward tasks for people that can fly.

Just gotta be careful of the lava. And the robots.

And the forest canopy!

Sojourn at Entropia: Sara by Sea

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

While taking in the sights with Sara we hit a slight barrier.

A PvP zone was on the way to the next way point.

Decided to go around by water using her boat!

A fast boat!

With guns!

Finally we arrive at Fort Argus where we part ways. Thanks Sara, it was fun!

Sojourn at Entropia: An Awesome Rescue

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

With no other recourse of escape from the mecha prison platform I decided to ask for advice from the Rookie Channel. Paying for a taxi was mentioned pretty quick, but after waiting a few minutes I got a private message from Sara Serenity of the Glory Hound Irregulars.

She told me to look up.

And just like that, she airlifted me out of the hostile zone.

See you later, you robot bastards!

Not only did she rescue me, she decided to act as tour guide to unlock more telepads. Below us in this picture was some player housing.

I'm sure she has a nice face behind that mask.

Sojourn at Entropia: The Flame

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Desperate to see what the light is, what those robot scum are guarding - I take my Sleipnir VTOL which is almost out of fuel right into the core.

Fueling my flight through pure will power.

I make it onto the strange platform and learn this place is Hadeshiem Crater.

It also happens to be the evil mechas base. CRAP.

With no other options I decide to try take on the ridiculously leveled bots.

No surprise, I don't last long and end up back here.

This turns out to be a form of prison, as escaping on foot is near impossible with the mecha swarm. I did get farther with the VTOL but when it burned the last of its fuel it crashed into the desert. I folded it up into my pocket but still got killed by a spider bot which sent me right back to the platform. Damn, it's a trap!

Sojourn at Entropia: The Moth

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Decided to explore around Half Moon Cove as there were interesting looking spots on the map.

First stop turned out to be a player airbase.
Too bad my VTOL is almost out of juice!

Then I saw it, a heavy beam of light in the distance.

As I get closer it becomes clear that the robots seem to be guarding it.
Too close, as one of the spiderbots blasts me and destroys more of my armor. :(

I respawn at this little platform, surrounded by evil mechas - but closer to the light than before. I just had to get there!

Sojourn at Entropia: The Feffox Attack

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

Emergency at Port Atlantis! Having unlocked the teleporter from Fort Troy I decided to warp over there and see what was causing all the fuss.

Oh. Level 499. O_O

Lots of people showed up! Green dots on the radar are other players!

This guy was casting magic(?) at the monster's butt!

Time for the big guns!

Unfortunately the rewards for killing the Feffox Queens were abysmal, and while I gained a lot of skill points I certainly lost a lot of ammo (and all my rockets) in the process. My pistol also broke. I still have a worn out rifle and the brand new one Caligula gave me, but I'm not skilled enough to use it effectively (very low rate of fire and poor accuracy).

Sojourn at Entropia: Pushing the Limit

[Part of my Sojourn at Entropia story.]

My next few way points would take me into a volcanic jungle region.

I decided it was flying time again.

One Problem: See the power gauge on the bottom left?
Almost out of fuel!

In an effort to conserve gas, it was back to hiking for a bit.

I did require one final jump though, risking a crash landing.
Look at the radar. All of those are level 60s.

Finally made it to Fort Troy only to find more evil mechas! :O
