True or false survey today. Please put your answers in the comments, and you may embelish as much or as little as you please though I would like a "T" or "F" at the minimum for each.
1) It's better to work for a good guy than a bad guy.
2) When looking for work, you don't really care if an employer is bad or good.
3) If you work for a bad guy, but don't know he's a bad guy you are not necessarily a bad guy.
4) If you work for a bad guy, and know he's a bad guy then you are also a bad guy (excluding covert ops).
5) There is a dollar amount that you will drop your morals for, even if just one time.
6) You would abduct and harvest organs from school children if you were paid enough money.
7) You would support a company that supports a second company who abducts and harvests organs from school children.
8) You don't care about people getting harvested as long as it isn't someone you immediately know.
9) You believe you are too small to make a difference in regards to anything.

ReplyDeleteTo add context to one in particular (4), is that it is hard to blame some people for knowingly working for a "bad guy" if they can only get that job (for example) or have good ideals but its the only way to support their family. (as an example). So if extenuating circumstances kind of leave them little choice.
Also, 6-8 are funny.
Wait, is this whole thing meant to be rhetorical? :)
Thanks Isey! Yes, purely rhetorical. ;p
Delete1) True, assuming that all other things are equal.
ReplyDelete2) False.
3) True.
4) True.
5) False, in general. For example, if I have my current job, I don't think any amount would be enough. However, if I was out-of-work and genuinely desperate, then kind of honestly I'd drop my morals for even a small amount of money. Money is a means to an end, and I have enough money for my ends. But if I didn't, then that would be a different matter.
6) False.
7) True. This depends on what you mean by support. In general, I think if a company offers a common product or service to the general public, then you offer it to everyone, good or bad. But if it's like a one-off contract work, where you put in effort tailoring it to the second company, then you should avoid contracting with bad people.
8) True, after a fashion.
9) False. I believe you can make a large difference in the circles close to you. Yourself, your family, your friends, your community. But as the distance grows, your influence drops significantly.
Thanks Rohan. Some very nice answers there. :)
